Environmental Bills Protecting New Jersey’s Shores
Protecting our oceans, beaches, and bays takes more than individual action. It also takes policies that address pollution at its source and safeguard our natural environment for future generations.

Stop Balloon Pollution
Balloons may be part of a celebration, but when released outdoors, they can end up in our oceans, bays, and beaches. Balloon debris can harm marine wildlife and adds unnecessary litter to our coastal environment.
In 2024, New Jersey introduced Assembly Bill A3703, which proposed prohibiting intentional outdoor balloon releases. The bill was withdrawn from consideration and never became law. New Jersey still needs stronger statewide protections to prevent balloon pollution.
How You Can Help
Ask New Jersey to take action. Contact your state legislators and urge them to introduce and support legislation restricting intentional outdoor balloon releases.

Send them a message asking for statewide legislation to prevent intentional balloon releases.

Balloons released outdoors can end up in our waterways and on our beaches, where the debris can harm wildlife and contribute to pollution. In 2024, Assembly Bill A3703 proposed restrictions on intentional outdoor balloon releases, but it was withdrawn and never became law.
New Jersey needs stronger statewide protections to prevent this unnecessary pollution. Please consider introducing or supporting new legislation to prohibit intentional outdoor balloon releases and help safeguard our shores for future generations.
